Thank you! Anonymous Donation made to AYC-STP

Thank you to the anonymous donor who made a contribution to our racing program. This sizable donation will defray our racing team's costs of chartering boats in Edgartown in a few weeks. We appreciate this wonderful donation and support to our program. THANK YOU!

Early Registration - Due this week!

Just a reminder, if you would like to receive the early registration discount, your registration forms should be postmarked by May 1st...that is this Wednesday! Just a reminder about some changes to this year's program:

  • Ø  In order to improve our tennis program among the older participants, we are dividing the Opti Racer, 420-1, and 420 Racer tennis class into two separate classes: Advanced Drills and Stroke Development. This will decrease the instructor to student ratio and provide more direct instruction to all our participants.
  • Ø  Both the Opti-1 and Opti-2 programs will run 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday-Thursday this year. Hopefully this will help families with multiple children in the program coordinate pick up and drop off times.
  • Ø  The Under-8 program will now run from 9:00 – 11:30, Monday - Wednesday. Participants will take tennis and swimming lessons and also enjoy a half an hour of play time with our junior instructors. Parents are allowed to drop-off their child and do not have to stay at the club during the lesson times.
  • Ø  We are very excited to have a new sailing director, Chris Stockard. In the first month since he has been hired, Chris has already put a great deal of time interviewing coaches, reviewing and assessing our curriculum, and beginning to prepare regatta schedules. Chris brings a wealth of experience to this position and he is looking forward to leading our sailing program this summer. It is a pleasure to welcome Chris to Annisquam!
  • The tennis program this year will be run by Evan Beilin and Chase Curtis; we will also welcome back Josh Linton for the second straight summer. Evan and Chase are excited to share their tennis experiences and develop a fun and enriching program for all kids at Annisquam this summer
I look forward to another rewarding summer at Annisquam. Once again, I am truly appreciative of all the great support and collaboration parents provide to our program. If you have any questions about this year’s program, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Joe

Marblehead Race Week - Day 2

The Annisquam Racers were sailing strong again in Day 2 of MRJW. Unfortunately, the storms shortened the day's races, but not before our sailors gained some ground on the leader board.

Peter Thibodeau & Grace Papp remain in second place in the 420 Championship Fleet going into the final day. They are currently 4 points off the lead.

Adam Piispanen & Sam Denney moved up to 5th place from 7th and are only 7 points off the lead.

Ben MacShane & Peter Remsen moved up a spot into 9th place. Annisquam is the only club in the 420 Championship Fleet to have more than one boat in the top ten (we have three!)

In the Opti Yellow, Johnny Andrew pulled into second place overall with an impressive day including a first place finish!

Matt Egan also made great strides in yesterday's racing as he is currently in 5th place in the Opti Yellow fleet, after a solid 3rd and 5th place finish in two of the races.

Ryan Feeley is consistently performing in the Opti Purple Fleet as he has moved up to 12th place.

Malcolm Steegstra finished the day strong in the Opti Purple Fleet with a tenth place finish in the final race.

Congratulations to all of our sailors for representing Annisquam with great sportsmanship and pride.
